Description

Middlesex D&H 337 Hornsey PennyObv: View of cathedral with trees, HORNSEY HALFPENNY . around, 1797 below. Rev: A SPEEDY . AND . LASTING PEACE . in four lines between palm and laurel branch. Uncirculated with reflective surfaces. Reverse has lovely blue toning in fields. Rare. Ive always found this to be a curious token, since it shows more shrubbery and trees than cathedral! Perhaps they were serious about their privacy. The church in Hornsey was built in the early 16th century.
